Code of Conduct
On the back of the pink participant copy of the registration form is the Code of Conduct. We expect all participants, coaches, parents, and guardians to adhere to this Code. Our leagues are meant to be a fun, learning experience for the youth of our community. We, as adults, need to show the children the proper way to react to official calls and plays that might not be what we think we saw. These are games. All efforts are made to insure that they are safe, well-officiated opportunities for the children to learn the sport, be with friends and have fun. This cannot take place if adults are yelling at the officials or the other players, especially with inappropriate language. Furthermore, unless there is an injured player or a request by the official, non-players should never be on the field of play during the game.
We cannot strongly enough express our concern on these matters. Last season saw too many examples of misbehavior by adults at our youth games. In one occurrence the police were called, in another the game was called. Adults – we need to control our language and behavior. We need to set the example for the youth so that they can take a “bad call,” deal with it, not cause a disruption for the other players and complete the game. We should be gracious in victory and turn defeat to a victory by working toward improvement of our skills.
The Southeastern Program of Recreational Team Sports requests that tobacco, alcohol and/or drugs not be used during any team sponsored event.
