First Aid Kits

Through our partnership with IU Health, Mudsock Youth Athletics provides every coach with a first aid kit prior to their first practice. Kits will be distributed by your league president, commissioner or equipment volunteer depending upon your sport.

What's in the kits? They are filled with cold packs, Band-Aids, ointment, gauze and gloves to handle minor bumps and bruises. If at any point during the season a coach needs more supplies, please reach out to us by calling 317-845-5582 or emailing [email protected]. We are happy to help you restock and can leave another kit outside of our office at Billericay Park for you to pick up.

Additionally, we have partnered with HamCo Love to provide feminine hygiene products in the kits for many female sport offerings.

*Should a more serious injury occur, coaches are able to evaluate this and can reach out to a board member on duty at their individual site who will follow the necessary protocols laid out by Mudsock Youth Athletics. If families need to seek further medical attention as a result of an injury during a practice or game, coaches should fill out an accident report form and provide a copy to their commissioners.

Although we are not able to have a trainer onsite for every recreational game, we are fortunate to partner with Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics. Meet our "team" doctor here and learn about our partnership. Please note, families are welcome to use any provider they choose.

AED Information

What is an AED?

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart. The shock can stop an irregular heart rhythm and allow a normal rhythm to resume following sudden cardiac arrest. Sudden cardiac arrest is an abrupt loss of heart function. If it’s not treated within minutes, it quickly leads to death. Most sudden cardiac arrests result from ventricular fibrillation. This is a rapid and unsynchronized heart rhythm starting in the heart’s lower pumping chambers (the ventricles). The heart must be “defibrillated” quickly, because a victim’s chance of surviving drops by seven to 10 percent for every minute a normal heartbeat isn’t restored.

How to Use an AED

Our partner, IU Health, has created this six-minute video which demonstrates how to use an AED. All AED's at park and school locations have written and verbal instructions included too. Thank you for watching.
