Woosley steps down as Softball President
Aaron Woosley stepped down as softball president at the September board meeting after 6 years in the presidents’ position and many more on the softball and baseball boards. Aaron’s leadership and guidance has led softball through some of the most dramatic advancements since its formation. These changes include the transition of Olio Park from a school to a town managed facility, 20% participant growth and a tripling of the tournaments hosted.

The growth of the recreational and travel programs reflect Aaron’s focus on the player, increasing volunteer participation, and providing opportunities for the girls in our community to play at their desired cost & competition level. The Fishers-HSE Softball travel program now provides highly competitive opportunities while the recreational program provides fun and competitive play-offs year after year. The development of concurrent recreational and travel programs has enabled the Fishers-HSE Softball program to become a model for broad player participation for which other programs seek advice to emulate.

In 2007 the town began the process of upgrading the facilities at Olio Park. New dugouts, lighted fields, field improvements, and the new concession stand were completed as part of the facility improvements. As a result, the Olio Park complex is now viewed as the premier venue for softball in central Indiana and attracts 150-250 teams from throughout the state annually to tournaments hosted at the complex.

Concurrent with the facility improvements, tournaments at the facility have increased from a single annual tournament to 6-8 tournaments per year. These tournaments provide an opportunity for our players to play on their home fields while bringing in necessary funds into the program that enable us to continue investing in facility improvements while keeping our player fee increases to a minimum.

The Softball board wishes to thank Aaron for his dedication of time and leadership to our program.
Aaron will continue on the Softball Executive committee in the Player Agent position. Brad Baumgartner succeeded Aaron as Softball President.
